We've tried to answer those questions we receive most often.
If you have a question you can't find an answer to here, please contact us and we'll get you one. |

Can I attend council meetings if
I am not an elected member? |
|
|
Yes!—in fact, we encourage it! While it is true that only
elected members have a vote, every person who attends has a
voice. You can also be a member of a subcommittee, in fact you
can even chair a subcommittee, even if you are not an elected
member. There is plenty for everyone to do and we'd like our
council to represent our school community accurately. So please
come out, attend our meetings and get involved. You are
welcome! |
|

|
|
| |
What time are the meetings? How
long do they last? |
|
| |
The meetings begin at 7:00 pm and are scheduled to last an
hour and a half. |
|

|
|
| |
How do I get an item on the
agenda? |
|
| |
Contact either one of our co-chairs or principal John
Hopkins two weeks prior to the meeting at which you would
like to discuss your topic. |

|
|
| |
I miss all the meetings,
but want to help. What can I do? |
|
| |
Good question! We know that it's not easy to
attend each meeting, but is important that the council
accurately reflect our school community and maintain a
school-wide perspective on issues. Here's a few suggestions:
- Check out our Subcommittee page and see if there is an area in which
you'd like to be involved. Attend those meetings or
contact the chair to see how you can participate.
- Read through the meeting minutes.
If there is a issue that interests you, contact the person
coordinating the issue.
- If you have limited time, volunteer for a one-time job.
For example, we will need many volunteers to "work" for a
bit during our upcoming fund raiser. Contact the fundraising subcommittee chair and let her know you'd
like to volunteer.
- Contact the chair and let her know what talents you
possess that you would be willing to share. We will
add your name to our resource list and contact you when your
help is needed.
