As part of our Safe Schools Policy, student attendance is accounted for twice daily - morning and after lunch. Deb Gammie (Attendance Secretary) makes every effort to secure the whereabouts of our absent/late students, especially in the Primary grades.
To assist Deb with this very important work, please call in advance of your child's absence and leave a message on the school answering machine indicating your child's name, grade, homeroom teacher, and the reason for the absence. You can leave a message on the school answering machine at any time—before, during, and after normal office hours.
If we do not receive a call, Deb will start calling your contact numbers (home, business, and emergency contact) to verify the absence. Most mornings we spend up to 1.5 hours calling to see that students are safe at home.
If no one can be reached, a call to the policy department will be made to indicate that your child is missing. Please help us avoid this situation, as well as save some valuable work time by calling ahead and ensuring we have up-to-date contact numbers.
With your support, the safety of our students—your children—will remain priority one.
