| We asked for your opinion and you responded. More than 130 surveys were completed and returned. The response was terrific—thank you!
Here is a sampling of your responses.
- Over 80% of you indicated that you read Parent to Parent. We received comments that some of the information in the newsletter has been previously published elsewhere. While we do repeat some pertinent information, we strive to publish our newsletter with timely and fresh information.
- You responded overwhelmingly (90 %+) that you support the use of fundraising money toward literacy, math, the arts, physical education, music and science. You also feel it is time to do a different type of fundraising campaign that does not include a silent auction.
- Over 60% of you feel the health and safety committee is doing a good job, but you do not feel they are as visible as they should be.
- The learning workshops that were offered this year (reading workshop and family math night) were a great success for over 74%.
The goal of the parent survey was to find out how we are doing and how the Council can better help you, our school community. We will use the results (both numbers and comments) to develop the focus of our efforts next year.
A number of the questions concerned topics outside of the scope of the Council. That being said, two of our objectives as a Council are to provide input into decisions made by the school and to provide a means of dialogue between all partners in education. In that vein we will pass along your comments and concerns to the school administration for their consideration.
While the survey was a great, formal way to share your opinion, please feel free to contact us at any time and let us know what you think or what we can do to help.
Thank you to Mr. Hopkins, Mrs. Green, Mrs. Gammie and all of the teachers for helping to coordinate the return of the surveys. And thanks again for your input.
