Individual Subject Awards
The individual subject awards are for outstanding achievement in all strands of the subject program.

- The Literacy award is given for outstanding achievement in all strands of the English program and in application to other subjects.
- The Physical Education and Health Award is given for outstanding achievement in PE and school sports, including team participation, (70%) and health (30%).
Valedictorians
One student is chosen from each class. For outstanding achievement in the English program and strong ability in public speaking.
Major Awards
Honour Roll
80% average in all subject areas considering equal weighing of all strands of subjects.
Academic Award - York Region Award
Highest overall academic average of all subject areas.
OPC Principal’s Award
For outstanding school/community leadership, positive role model, and ability to work effectively with others.
Cornell Character Award
For outstanding emulation of the school character traits, positive role model/peer interaction, and participation in school/community; a quiet leader.
Most Improved Student
For the most significant growth/improvement throughout the school year in all subject areas.
Note: every attempt will be made to maximize the number of award winners by considering which award is best suited among the outstanding students in the grade 8 graduating class.
