Goals

Promote meaningful communication between the school advisory council and the parents of our school community.
Strategies
Parent to Parent— publish a peer to peer quarterly newsletter that contains meaningful information regarding the activities of Council, pertinent news items, and tips and strategies on such subjects as parenting, homework help, parental involvement,

Parent to Parent Translations—translate Parent to Parent into Chinese and Tamil.

Council Website—maintain a website that communicates Council meetings and activities and maintains an archive of meeting minutes.

Promote volunteer opportunities within our parent community.
Strategies
Volunteer Tree—Create a Volunteer Tree outside main office to provide parents varied volunteer opportunities to encourage parental involvement regardless of the skills and amount of time they have to offer. The parent leaves of the tree will contain a variety of volunteer tasks requiring varied amounts of time. The teacher leaves will contain a variety of skills that parents have to offer.

Handout—Create a handout for parents announcing the Volunteer Tree that will be stuffed into the report card envelopes.

Support our parent community in helping them help their child(ren) with learning at home.
Strategies
Parent to Parent—Publish an article in the first Parent to Parent on how to read a report card and how to talk with your child’s teacher including sample questions.
