School Plan for Continuous Improvement
The School Plan for Continuous Improvement (or School Plan) is a document outlining academic goals specifically for Cornell Village Public School. The plan includes:
- School goals on student achievement
- Indicators of success
- How goals are measured
- Actions/strategies to achieve goals
- Resources available
- Responsibilities
- Timelines
Parents play an active role in supporting the School Plan. Through the School Advisory Council, parents work with school staff to meet the goals set in the school plan.
School Goals
- All students will increase their achievement in reading comprehension, with a school focus on assessment for learning.
- School Advisory Council (CVSAC)
- School Advisory Council developing mandate to support the School Plan through fundraising and other activities. CVSAC uses School Plan Subcommittee to align focus.
- All parents, especially those of students who are struggling, are engaged with specific strategies to support literacy at home in order to increase student achievement in reading comprehension.
- Parent volunteer readers will support classroom teachers in specific, daily, reading objectives for students.
- Build Staff Trust/Collaboration: A focus for grade partners and divisions to work collaboratively to promote achievement and character in all students.
- Character Counts at Cornell: Staff, students and parents adopt Character Matters as a key priority and recognize the key character traits each month in all classes.
- Curricular and co-curricular activities organized utilizing the character traits in learning opportunities.
