Help Your Child Succeed

Did you know that there are many simple things you can do at home to support your child’s education? The Ministry of Education has some effective (and easy!) tips for you in a variety of languages.

How Can Parents Help?

We ask that you fully engage in our three-way partnership of learning at Cornell Village Public School involving students, staff and parents. Through the communication link of the School Agenda Planner and consultation with your child’s teacher, we ask that you consider the following activities:

  • Read nightly with your child and discuss the material to reinforce understanding.
  • Check for homework completion nightly using the Agenda Planner. Discuss the homework with your child. Give feedback and ask questions about concerns with the homework through the Agenda Planner.
  • Challenge your child to write for different purposes.
  • Apply and extend the school learning of your child by offering them activities to help them relate their reading/writing to real life experiences and other sources of information.
  • Ensure that your child receives adequate rest, nutrition, and daily exercise.
