URL Forwarding

The York Region District School Boards hosts our site on its servers, as it does all YRDSB sites. Our actual URL is http://www.cornellvillage.ps.yrdsb.edu.on.ca/schoolcouncil/index.html. That’s quite a mouthful and much too hard to remember. We use URL forwarding so that our visitors only have to type in our easy-to-remember URL—www.cvps.ca instead of the full URL.

But what about my bookmarks?

Ah, there’s the snag with URL fowarding. Your bookmarks will reflect our actual URL, not the easy-to-remember one. So, for example, if you choose to bookmark our homepage, your bookmark will reflect the following URL: http://www.cornellvillage.ps.yrdsb.edu.on.ca/schoolcouncil/index.html not www.cvps.ca/index.html. You use our easy-to-remember URL to get to the homepage of the site, but you cannot type it into the address bar of your browser to access other sections of our site.

Don’t despair. All you need to do is following our easy-to-use navigation system to get around the site. Once you bookmark a page, simply click on your bookmark and you will be taken directly to that page.

Terms and Abbreviations

The term parent is used throughout this Web site to refer to the legal guardian of any student under 18 years of age.

Throughout this site, Cornell Village Public School is abbreviated as CVPS and York Region District School Board is abbreviated as YRDSB.

Educational terms, abbreviations, and acronyms can be confusing. To help you understand these, we’ve created a list that provides the Meaning of Educational Words.
